Antique Carved Side Chair with Needlepoint Seat

Product details

Seller's Notes: A handsome antique side chair featuring a carved wood frame, sculptural open back, and floral needlepoint upholstered seat. The design draws from Federal and American Classical furniture, with a broad shaped upper tablet, scrolling carved crest, floral rosette details, and a vase-shaped center splat. The wood has attractive visible figuring, particularly across the broad upper section and central back splat. Long curved supports frame the open back and flow toward the rounded seat. The padded seat is covered in a cream needlepoint textile with a central bouquet of pink roses, purple flowers, and green foliage. A bowed front rail continues the curved profile of the chair. A distinctive accent chair for a bedroom, entryway, desk, dressing area, or traditional living space.
