Pair of MCM High-Back Cane Dining Armchairs

Product details

Seller's Notes:A striking pair of vintage mid-century modern dining armchairs with unusually tall wood backs, narrow woven cane center panels, curved arms, and upholstered seats. The chairs have a particularly strong architectural silhouette. Rather than filling the backs with cane, the design concentrates the woven material into a slender vertical panel surrounded by large areas of open space. This makes the chairs feel light and refined despite their dramatic height. A gently shaped crest rail spans the top of each chair, transitioning into long vertical back supports. The arms curve outward before returning toward the seat, while straight seat rails and slender tapered legs keep the lower portion of the frame clean and understated. The seats are upholstered in alternating cream and champagne-toned stripes, providing a subtle contrast against the darker wood. Each chair is stamped “DENMARK” underneath. These would make excellent captain’s chairs at the ends of a dining table, particularly alongside simpler side chairs. Their tall sculptural profile also makes them attractive as individual desk, occasional, or accent chairs.
