Renaissance Revival Carved X-Frame Chair

Product details

Seller's Notes:A distinctive vintage Savonarola chair in the Renaissance Revival style. The design follows the recognizable X-frame form associated with historic European seating, interpreted here as a highly sculptural decorative chair. The frame is composed of repeating curved elements that intersect beneath the seat, creating the characteristic Savonarola profile. Carved detailing further emphasizes the historic influence of the design and gives the chair visual interest from multiple angles. The Savonarola form has been interpreted during numerous furniture revival movements, becoming particularly associated with Renaissance-inspired interiors. Its architectural construction remains visually compelling outside of a strictly traditional setting as well. This example would make a strong standalone accent in a library, study, entryway, bedroom, or living space. Its graphic silhouette also creates an interesting contrast when paired with more streamlined modern furnishings. A handsome vintage interpretation of one of the most recognizable forms of Renaissance-inspired seating.
