Design Within Reach Tolix France Barstools Gunmetal Gray

Product details

Seller's Notes:Often imitated, these are the genuine original design and manufacture. Based on the Marais A Chair (1934) by Xavier Pauchard, a metalworker who brought the art of galvanizing steel to France. Made in the town of Autun, Burgundy, using a single sheet of metal and hot-dip galvanization per the original process. Color is a clear-finished gunmetal gray. Best for indoor use.

An authentic French design staple After perfecting the art of galvanized steel in the 1920s, Xavier Pauchard trademarked the name of his company, and his Marais A Chair became a standard of café seating in France. Taken over by his sons in 1948, Tolix today still creates Pauchard’s designs to his exacting standards.
