Vintage Purple Velvet Tufted Highback Scoop Chair

Seller's Notes:This plush purple tufted velvet high back tapered scoop sculptural slipper chair deserves a new loving home. It's giving vintage Atomic Age with its armless gondola-style and sled base (in the style of Adrian Pearsall). CONDITION: While technically usable and comfortable as is, the new owner should expect to fully re-upholster and refinish it. Please keep the price of those boutique services in mind before deciding to purchase. Chair has been exposed to a cat. Cat hair is difficult to get out of tufted velvet, but it has been thoroughly vacuumed and lint rollered. Anterior aspect of the seat has a large hole that is not only superficial and may have once anchored a strip of accent wood to the front. Fabric has some fading (though remarkably little given its age). Please see photos for other flaws including areas where edges are fraying, scratches / loss of stain on wood, and area where two pieces of wood are separating. All tuft buttons intact. Designer / Manufacturer not confirmed but similar chairs are attributed to Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates. However the wood type and joinery type on this chair are different than Pearsall's style. Era: approximately 1960.
