Vintage Carved Asian Wood Storage Chest

Product details

Seller's Notes:A substantial vintage carved wood chest combining decorative presence with generous enclosed storage. The exterior is covered with detailed relief carving incorporating figures, architectural elements, foliage, and other traditional decorative motifs. Dark framing around the carved panels creates contrast and gives the chest a particularly graphic appearance, while brass-tone hardware adds another layer of ornamentation. The hinged top opens to a large light wood interior that can accommodate blankets, linens, pillows, seasonal textiles, or other household items. This makes the piece useful beyond its decorative appeal. Its relatively low, horizontal form allows it to work in several settings. Use it at the foot of a bed as a blanket chest, against a wall for additional storage, beneath a window, or as a distinctive decorative element in a living space. The carving takes inspiration from traditional Asian furniture, while the interior construction suggests later 20th-century manufacture. We have therefore conservatively categorized the chest as vintage rather than assigning it an earlier antique date. Dimensions: 40w 20.5w 22.5h Condition: use and age related wear, discoloration, chips, edge wear, scuffs/scratches, see photos.
