Seller's Notes:A Mid-Century Piece of History Ready for a Second Life This unique mechanical reclining club chair and matching storage footstool originally belonged to my great-grandfather. It has a beautiful retro silhouette, but I unfortunately do not have the space to keep it or the specialized skills required to properly restore it. It is incredibly important to me that this family piece finds a new home with someone who will love its character and bring it back to its original glory. Because finding the right home is my top priority, I am listing this set at a low price to offset the cost of the necessary repairs. Collector & Restorer Details: Date of Manufacture: July 1955 (see Stamped "7 55" on the wood frame). Model Number: Stamped "No. 456" Mechanical Reclining System: Features a heavy-duty, period-correct stepped wooden cog mechanism at the base of the backrest for manual reclining adjustments. The Ottoman: Features a removable top cushion that opens up to an open cavity frame (great for storing blankets or tv remotes). Construction: Classic mid-century solid wood framing built with traditional sinuous (zigzag) springs. Condition Notes (Priced Accordingly): This is a true project piece that needs a complete overhaul. The frame is currently loose and will require structural tightening/regluing. The original tan vinyl upholstery has several prominent splits and tears along the tufted buttons on the backrest. The internal foam and batting will also need to be replaced during the reupholstery process.
