Seller's Notes:This is a very sturdy/solid red mahogany writing desk circa 1940. Beautifully cared for over the years by my grandmother, this desk is in perfect structural condition. There are some surface scratches (cat?) on the front slanted panel, shown in the photos. The original key still locks/unlocks all 4 locking doors and the writing surface panel. Inside the desk, there are several small drawers (including 2 "secret' drawers) and a multitude of storage cubbies. There is no wobble to the desk or to the writing surface, which is incredibly stable/strong. Clawed feet and curved drawer surfaces are examples of the amazing workmanship of the time. The desk is 33 inches wide and 31 inches tall. The writing surface sits 29" above the ground. The top of the piece is 9" deep at it's narrowest. With the writing surface stowed, the desk is 16" deep. When the writing surface is deployed, the desk is 30" deep.
