Seller's Notes:I saw the movie Bessie recently on HBO with Queen Latifah and saw that she had a very similar vanity as part of the set in her home. I got this from an enterprising young man in Williamsburg who described it as "English". Regardless, it is in good condition for an item over 50 years old. There is some minor discoloration on the wood surfaces and the mirror and near the very bottom on the right side there is a small chip that could easily be covered by staining it to match the chestnut finish. The 4 drawers work well and there is no musty smellI -- the item is clean and ready to move into your home. I had always wanted a show piece vanity and I have very much enjoyed it, but now that my boyfriend is moving in, we need the space for something more practical, like more bookshelves (sigh....). There is also a pink vinyl/brass stool that looks like it's from the 1950's or 60's? Of this I am not exactly sure, but I will throw it in with the vanity -- it's sturdy and the perfect height -- it slides under it when you are not using it.
