Seller's Notes:The 989 lounge chair, a 1968 Milo Baughman design still handmade to order by Thayer Coggin in North Carolina. Brown suede upholstery on a brushed bronze flat-bar frame, with thick down-blend cushions that are very comfortable. Known as the “T-back” for the shape of the frame from behind. Both chairs are in like-new condition. Retail is $3,600+ each new.

Originally designed in 1968 by Milo Baughman, the 989 is a timeless classic of the modern era. This visually arresting chair features an upholstered cube that seems to float inside an angular, flat-bar metal frame. With its inviting thick, loose cushions, the 989 lounge chair combines big comfort with glamorous profiles from all angles. The 989 is affectionately known as the “T-back” chair, as its exposed metal frame forms a "T" when viewed from the rear. Select from any of our in-house curated fabrics or leathers for upholstery.
