The functionality and unique footprint of this unusually tall and spacious double dresser is added to be the rolling base for ease of movement for cleaning or rearranging. The legacy of T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings (1903–1976), a British-born architect and furniture designer, is deeply embedded in this dresser's design. His career, which began in the 1920s, saw him working as a naval architect and art director before venturing into furniture design. From 1943 to 1956, Robsjohn-Gibbings worked for Widdicomb Furniture Company, where he honed his craft and left an indelible mark on the world of furniture design, favoring the visual vocabulary of the classical world and influencing modern American home aesthetics The dresser is in very good, original condition, showing only light cosmetic wear that is normal and consistent with its age.
