Live-Edge Curly Maple Single Slab Coffee Table
Product details
Seller's Notes:For your consideration is a masterfully crafted, museum-quality live-edge coffee table by retired Berkshires artisan woodworker Ken Speed. Built in 2010, this heirloom piece is a stunning example of New England Studio Craft furniture, heavily inspired by Nakashima’s design philosophy. The Wood: Crafted from a single, massive slab of premium local Curly Maple. The top exhibits spectacular, dense figure and deep chatoyancy across its entire 58-inch span, creating a shimmering, 3D visual texture that shifts with the room's lighting. The natural organic edge includes a beautifully preserved wild knot/void, highlighting the raw soul of the tree. The Craftsmanship: True to Ken Speed’s meticulous reputation, the heavy single-slab top rests at a sleek, traditional 13-inch lounge height on a custom, architectural panel-style base. The vertical grain on the base panels is perfectly matched to complement the flow of the top. Having spent 16 years in a climate-controlled environment, the wood is fully acclimated and structurally immaculate—free of structural warping, splits, or checking.
