Seller's Notes:For sale is an authentic, vintage "Plia" folding chair designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli (Made in Italy). This legendary piece of design history features a polished chrome frame and a transparent smoke/clear lucite seat and backrest. Folds perfectly flat for easy NYC storage. Excellent vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with age.

When it was presented in 1967 at the Milan Furniture Fair, the chair was so well received that many visitors left the stand, taking the chairs with them. As a result of this unorthodox compliment, the chairs were chained to the stand. Thanks to Plia and his study of the "three-disc pivot," which revolutionized the concept of the folding chair, Giancarlo Piretti went down in history as the "20th-century Thonet." Available in a variety of colors, from the steel frame to the seat and backrest, there's even a version in woven cane stretched over a solid wood frame, further enhancing this icon of Italian style.
