Seller's Notes:Pair of vintage Barcelona ottomans by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, circa 1960s. Wear consistent with age, such as cracking and rips in the leather as pictured. They sit amazing and chrome bases are pristine.
Originally created for the attendants to the king and queen of Spain, the Barcelona Stool (1929) by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe continues to endure as an icon of modernism and master craft. It’s upholstered using a single Spinneybeck cowhide and supported by a polished chrome frame hand-buffed to perfection. To create the deep, precise tufting, individual panels of leather are cut, hand-welted and hand-tufted. The Barcelona Stool is a registered trademark of Knoll, Inc., this is the authentic Barcelona Stool by Knoll.
Made for the German Pavilion at Barcelona's 1929 International Exposition.
