Seller's Notes:I built this with comfort and longevity in mind; designing this to be extremely strong and the fabric to be easily taken off to be washed if necessary. I even added custom hand carved walnut rails, which are mounted on for 2 reasons in mind; to prevent the wearing of the fabric sitting directly on the floor and for that extra pop of style. Additionally, I installed white thumbtack-style gliders, making it simple to move on any type of floor. I see this piece as art, as I spent many many hours planning materials (which were not cheap), designing, sculpting, sewing and perfecting this beauty; making this highly sought style an authentic one-of-kind- with a goal to offer a modern, comfortable, artistic, yet sustainable piece to uplift any bedroom or living room space. This is a NEW and UNUSED piece made to sell. ( I marked this listing “exposed to dog and cat” due to the fact that my pets are on premises where the chair was made. THE PROCESS I hand sculpted a styrofoam mold so when I layered the fiberglass resin, it hardened exactly the way I wanted the seat and backrest to be shaped. I sculpted the chair in a way, so that anyone sitting in it will feel like I had THEIR BODY in mind for comfort and support. I integrated fiberglass resin over additional wood support braces. In between the resin layers, I integrated fiberglass cloth and fiberglass mat for extra bonding strength. I also used loose fiberglass fibers for strength and for sculpting purposes. Once the fiberglass hardened, I removed my styrofoam mold. I then went a little MORE overboard with a couple gel coats over the entire chair. So its made stronger than a yacht! I sanded it down and used firm, thick, yet VERY cushiony foam to cover every inch of the chair, maintaining its shape and mid century modern style. I then covered the piece with dacron to professionally smooth it out in preparation for the fabric. I designed, custom fit, and sewed a washable white sherpa fabric, allowing you the simplicity of removing and redressing the chair for wash (using the sewn in Velcro). I also thoughtfully sewed in a slip on the inner side of the fabric for the bottom seat; so that friction created by a person moving around in the chair or removing and redressing the chair doesn’t wear on the inside knit of the fabric and the dacron. I cut to size the walnut rails, hand carved a textured design, polyurethaned them for protection, and attached them to the bottom sides of the chair. White thumbtack style gliders were installed to easily move the piece on any floor, as it is not a light weight.
