Seller's Notes:A piece that commands a wall without overwhelming a room. "Rune" is the work of Lune, a Montreal-based artist whose practice lives at the intersection of simplicity and chaos. The composition draws on African tribal art and wood carving traditions — rendered in black and white acrylic on linen canvas with expressive, confident brushstrokes that leave room for your own interpretation. Dual-orientation D-ring hardware means it hangs vertically or horizontally, so it adapts to the wall rather than the other way around. Wood frame, ready to hang, substantial scale at 36"x48". Now discontinued at CB2. The only reason we're letting it go is we're moving and it does not match the vibe of our new place. This has been an incredible center piece to our living room for several years now. It's in perfect condition, like new.

Inspired by African tribal art, "Rune" is characterized by striking yet simple forms. "I love the wood carvings they use for printmaking, particularly on textiles and pottery," explains the artist. Created using black and white acrylic paint to draw contrast between the expressive brushstrokes. Reproduced here to emulate the artist's original techniques. Hangs in two orientations.
