Antique Wood Piano Stool, Ball-and-Claw Feet

Product details

Seller's Notes:An antique adjustable piano stool with a round wood seat and a four-leg base in a Victorian style. Turning the seat changes its height, a practical feature for piano or organ use. The woodwork is the focus of the piece. The legs move through a series of rounded and tapered forms, while spindle stretchers draw inward toward a shaped central support. Together they give the stool a strong profile from every angle. The dark finish brings out the contours of the base and provides a backdrop for the feet. Gold-toned metal claws grip a glass ball beneath each leg. Their contrast with the wood adds interest without interrupting the stool’s balanced shape. These are glass ball-and-claw feet, an ornamental feature closely associated with antique piano stools. Compact enough to sit beneath a piano when it is not in use, the stool also makes a useful adjustable seat at a dressing table. Its design rewards a closer look, especially where the turned woodwork meets the metal and glass at the feet.
