Seller's Notes:Selling a stunning, genuine antique kidney-shaped women's desk. This is a true period piece, likely mid-to-late 19th century Victorian, I inherited it from my mother, who had for for most of her life, so not a modern reproduction. It's classic kidney-shaped desk of the era with a dark leather writing surface with gold-tooled decorative borders, and beautiful, highly figured burr walnut veneer on the drawer fronts. The drawers offer excellent storage. The kneehole is quite narrow (19 inches wide and 22 inches high) so it's best suited to someone smaller in stature. On the inside you can see the hand-crafted construction with original hand-cut square nuts securing the hardware backplates. Because it is a true antique, it shows its history and honest age. There is slight chipping to the walnut veneer in a few places (pictured) and minor age-related cracking on the back panel. A few of the brass drop-pull handles have detached, but all original matching pieces are included and can easily be reattached, as well as the original wheels which I removed. I love it and I'm only selling it because we're moving abroad. It also works really nicely as a beauty console in the bedroom.
