Antique Metal Flashing Mantel
Product details
Seller's Notes:So, picture it, DC - 2004. I was helping install new hardwood floors in a brownstone in the Bloomingdale neighborhood in DC and had taken a break and heard this crash from down the street. A new roof was being installed and the roofers had just torn the decorative flashing from the building and dropped it to the ground. I grabbed a pair of metal shears, jumped in my Honda Civic, double parked and then cut the discarded flashing that had survived into usable lengths. This 48" section I attached to wood backing and used it for 22 years as themantel over my fireplace. **safety note, it is metal and was cut as quickly as possible (before the roofer realized I was liberating it) and the edges are sharp, even after I took a grinder to it**
