Mid Century Black Lacquer Asian Chinoiserie Bar Cabinet Pagoda Geishas Scholar Scene

This chinoiserie miniature storage cabinet circa mid 20th century features black lacquer finish with illustrated designs and inlays. The decorative nature of this petite cabinet makes it an impressive addition to any setting while offering a great shelved storage option. This has a nicely patinated lacquered frame which has been hand painted with birds and flowers. Features Double Doors Open to Single Shelf over shaped apron. Rectangular form and brass capped feet.  Decorated in the Chinoiserie style, designs with social scenes set against the backdrop of a landscape of pagodas, birds and flowers. Geishas/Scholars are elegantly placed at the foregound of the landscape.  The sides are accented by branches, flowers and birds. Patinated metal lockplates  Great for use as consoles or altar cabinets in any entryway or room. A very good looking and well made piece, these are now highly collectable as art furniture.  It’s a rare item that is hard to come by!

Condition: Good Vintage Condition; commensurate with age and use, edge wear, finish loss, wear to brass, age and use related wear. Light marking and distressing. Very Good Vintage Condition, Some Imperfections. Great quality/solid construction/heavy piece. Please study photos carefully. This chest is a vintage piece, has character, and is in very good condition commensurate with age, which means it is old and you will find imperfections throughout like dings, marks, nicks, scratches, scuffing, some letter transfer from an old label on one of the cubbyholes.

Meyer Mazor opened his furniture store on 7th St. NW in Washington D.C. in 1937. After expanding over several decades to multiple locations, the company closed its doors in the mid 1980’s. Mazor Masterpieced this 3 door chest/3 drawer dresser is a solid substantial piece and expertly constructed in a sienna finish.  All drawers open/close easily.
